Rock Creek Curling offers developmental curling classes, advanced skill/gameplay courses, a dedicated league and competitive opportunities for youth aged 7-17. Youth curlers can also curl in weeknight and Saturday doubles leagues upon request and at the discretion of the Youth director.
Our new curler courses are based on age and can be repeated and progressed as many times as necessary.
Note: Helmets are required for children 12 and under. We recommend ski/snowboard helmets or bike helmets.
If you have questions on the best place for your athlete, please email Sean to discuss the course in which your child will thrive and stay motivated.
Our new and novice curler courses are designed to build skill and confidence on the ice while learning the basics of the game and focusing on fun. New and returning curlers in grades 1-5 meet on Saturdays at 9:30 AM and begin with an emphasis on gaining stability and balance on the ice using drills and games. Returning curlers in this cohort will build off of previous experience to continue their growth and knowledge of the game while working on throwing full-sheet.
New curlers in middle school and high school curlers grades 6 and up meet Mondays at 5 pm. They also begin with an emphasis on balance and stability while increasing their strength, refining their release, sweeping, and building the basic knowledge of gameplay. These curlers practice and learn alongside our more experienced curlers, providing an easy transition into our GRG youth curling program when ready.
Our youth course registration fees includes curling shoes and equipment.

We offer a youth curler membership at Rock Creek Curling for all our youth curlers who choose to participate in the GRG Youth Curling and/or in weeknight/Saturday doubles leagues. Our youth members receive all of the same great benefits as our adult members, plus some fun things just for them! We also require a USA Curling Youth Individual Membership for youth curlers in GRG Curling and leagues.
Membership at Rock Creek Curling or with USA Curling is not required for participants in our new curler youth curling courses.
When you're ready to take your game to the next level, GRG Curling is the next step. When consistently delivering rocks down a full sheet of ice and ready to (or already playing) multi-end games, this is the place to be for advanced instruction, drill-based skill and technique development, gameplay and strategy, and lots of fun with other youth curlers.
The GRG program happens on Mondays and Saturdays throughout the season. RCC youth membership and USA Curling youth membership are required for the GRG program.
These sessions focus on individual skill development, positional work, and strategic exercises.
The GRG League is Rock Creek Curling's league just for youth. Teams scramble each week and implement what they work on in the Skills & Drills session. A great way to get gameplay experience and meet other curlers to build competitive teams. Or simply have fun and play!
The Skills & Drills and Gameplay Sessions are one registration. Please reach out to Sean if your curler's schedule only permits one or the other.
