Sean began curling in 2006 after first seeing the sport on Olympic broadcasts and venturing to a learn to curl session in Colorado Springs. He signed up for a mini-league soon after, and has been curling and learning ever since. Sean is a USA Curling Certified Level II instructor and Level I Official.

One of his favorite things about curling is the feeling of belonging and acceptance from the global curling community. “I have enjoyed traveling and meeting curlers from so many places. One thing that stands out to me is the general hospitality amongst the community. Wherever I’m curling, whether it be in Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, Canada, or Finland, I’ve felt welcomed and like I belonged there.”

“When people walk into Rock Creek, I want them to enjoy that same feeling. I want them to know that we are happy they are here, that they are a part of the Rock Creek family, and that we are committed to helping them have successful and memorable experiences.”

Mimi attended a learn to curl class and threw a rock for the first time in March 2014. Later that year she joined an evening curling league and has been curling ever since. “I love that curling is an easy sport to learn, but one that is challenging to master. It will keep you physically and mentally engaged for your entire lifetime!”

Mimi is a USCA Level 1 Certified Instructor, Level 1 JOGA coach, and has a master’s certificate in Strength & Conditioning from the University of Denver’s Sports Coaching program. She is looking forward to using her expertise to provide Rock Creek Curling’s members and event participants with exceptional experiences on and off the ice.

Hunter Clawson started curling in 2008. He jumped into the youth competitive scene, culminating in skipping teams to men's national championships, and winning the USA Mixed Nationals in 2017 and 2019. Hunter has competed in the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Scotland, and Russia. This experience has given him a love for the game, the community, and sportsmanship.

Hunter’s home curling club is Potomac Curling Club in Maryland. The experience there helped Hunter build his game from the ground up, and now he would like to share that knowledge with all who walk through Rock Creek's doors.

“I am so excited to be a part of this team and community, we have opportunities here for everyone. I see my job as helping any new athlete enjoy our silly, wonderful, captivating game. This sport is for anyone, and can give you experiences that are hard to find in life, let’s play and have fun!”

RCC's Curler in Residence, Andy Carle has been curling since 2014 and helping run curling organizations for nearly as long. He is a USA Curling Arena Nationals Silver Medalist, a multi-time California Curling Champion, and a World Curling Tour Mixed Doubles competitor.

Andy leads our New Curler Experiences team at Rock Creek Curling, developing and staffing Open House, Intro, and Corporate programming. He also teaches private lessons for both brand-new and very experienced curlers. Andy had years of service in curling before arriving in Colorado: in California, he received the 2019 Mountain Pacific Curling Association Tim Irish Volunteer Service Award, served as President and Director of the Silicon Valley Curling Club, and directed corporate programming for the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club.

USA Curling recognizes Andy as a Level 2 Instructor, a Level 2 Official, and an Instructor Course Coordinator. Andy has the unusual trio of having been a player, on-ice official, and scraper driver for various USA Curling National Championships. Off the ice, Andy holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, is a former tech start-up co-founder, and has taught as a visiting faculty member in Berkeley's EECS department.

Maria began her food and beverage journey in 2011. As a craft beer enthusiast, she opened her first small business venture in 2016, Romero's K9 Club & Tap House. She later opened a food truck and catering business in 2020 and then joined the Rock Creek Curling Team in 2023 as our food and beverage manager. 

She loves supporting local and independently owned craft breweries and makers by curating a rotating beverage menu. She is excited to connect with event planners to make their events at Rock Creek Curling unique and custom experiences.

Scott’s introduction to curling took place in 2006 when his son Sean asked him to join him in a short mini league and his interest in the game grew from there.

He found curling to be both intriguing and accessible. The travel to different curling venues, both in the United States and outside the country, was fun and prodded his interest in figuring out how to bring the game to more people here in Colorado.

“It is my hope to help Rock Creek curlers take up the game, enjoy the experience, and grow and improve year after year.”
